Trial Begins on Whether State’s Voting Districts Were Unconstitutionally Gerrymandered

A trial over whether the state’s voting districts were unconstitutionally gerrymandered begins Tuesday.

Republican lawmakers asked the high court to delay the proceeding until it rules in similar cases from other states.

The high judge denied that request on Friday.

Democrats argue the districts were unfairly drawn by the GOP, to guarantee the party’s dominance after the 2010 census.
