Cherryland Electric Grant Helps NMCAA Home Repair Program

The Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency is helping low-income families with home repairs.

Cherryland Electric awarded the NMCAA a $6,750.00 Cherryland Cares grant.

The funds will help with fixing emergency home repairs like a well or a furnace.

In order to qualify; homeowners must reside in Grand Traverse, Benzie, Kalkaska, Leelanau or Wexford County.

Residents must also have an income of 80 percent of the area’s median income or a lesser value.

“We replaced a well so people could have water so we are preventing people from becoming homeless,” Kris Brady, Director of Community Service said. “Living in very unsafe conditions with these kinds of programs, so it makes a big impact in our community and for our customers.”

The NMCAA believes this grant money will help 10 to 15 people.
