100 Michigan Artists Handpicked for Prestigious Traverse City Art Exhibition
This is the 2019 Northwest Michigan Regional Juried Exhibition, only held about every 5 years or so.
Some of the best local artists have pieces on display during a special exhibition at the Dennos Museum Center in Traverse City.
Nearly 100 artists are represented here from 13 counties in the northern Lower Michigan and U.P.
All of them were handpicked by a juror out of 362 submissions.
And while that juror will choose several for awards, the public also gets to vote on a favorite.
Curator of Education Jason Dake says this year’s show will certainly have something that will appeal to any art lover.
“We’re hanging it this week, I think the word that came to mind was eclectic,” he says. “I mean, it’s a little bit of everything. There’s painting, there’s sculpture, there’s fiber work, there’s wood work, there’s different materials, different media different approaches to the art, so it’s really a great showcase for the region of Northwest Michigan to show off all the different kinds of art and artists that are at work.”
The show runs until May 5.
