Big Rapids Spectrum Health Receives State Recognition

Spectrum Health’s Trauma Center in Big Rapids just received state recognition.

The Trauma Center is now ranked level four which will provide patients with advanced life support.

Spectrum Health has been working on this project for the last two years!

“We were thrilled…This took a lot of work from a lot of people.” Caroline Ring, Chief Nursing Officer said.

The Trauma Center is now able to provide better evaluation for patients.

Including, stabilization and diagnosis with an advanced team.

However, part of their program focuses on injury prevention.

“Falls are the biggest injury nationwide,” Walt Hartline, Trauma Coordinator said. “The elderly population that are taking blood thinners is one of the biggest areas we focused on. Because that seems to be where we noticed a lot of our serious injuries.”
