Big Rapids Spectrum Health Receives State Recognition
Spectrum Health’s Trauma Center in Big Rapids just received state recognition.
The Trauma Center is now ranked level four which will provide patients with advanced life support.
“We were thrilled…This took a lot of work from a lot of people.” Caroline Ring, Chief Nursing Officer said.
The Trauma Center is now able to provide better evaluation for patients.
Including, stabilization and diagnosis with an advanced team.
However, part of their program focuses on injury prevention.
“Falls are the biggest injury nationwide,” Walt Hartline, Trauma Coordinator said. “The elderly population that are taking blood thinners is one of the biggest areas we focused on. Because that seems to be where we noticed a lot of our serious injuries.”
Spectrum Health’s new team and title for the Trauma Center will let them continue to advance.
