New Bridge to Extend Hiking Trail in Grand Traverse County

A popular Northern Michigan park is getting some upgrades.

The Brown Bridge Quiet Area in Grand Traverse County is getting a new bridge.

Soon, the new addition will bridge the gap where the hiking area’s five-mile trail currently doesn’t connect.

The entire project is estimated to $180,000.

Through donations and a matching gift from Traverse City’s park improvement fund, this project is finally moving forward.

Steve Largent is the conservation team coordinator and says it’s an exciting addition.

“The bridge is going to be here in mid-February. We’re getting it installed this spring. It’s going to take a little to get installed and get the connecting ramps hooked up,” he says.

The Traverse City Rotary Club donated $50,000 to the project.
