Long before Snapchat and Instagram stories, there was 8 mm film.
This comes from the Ludingtonville Facebook page—some pretty awesome retro footage from the Detroit historical archives of a young couple visiting Ludington back in 1953.
It features the public beach, along with views of downtown, the state park, the Pere Marquette Memorial, and even a sunset from 65 years ago!
The couple’s names were Chester and Frances Selden, both from Detroit. They were in their 30’s at the time this was shot.
Chester was a World War II veteran.
What an awesome discovery!
The video runs about 10 minute’s total.
