Plates, place mats, silverware, flatware, stemware–where do you start when you are entertaining guests?
Designer Shane Inman, of The can help decipher that riddle for you. It really isn’t as much as a headache as you really might think. He says it’s all about looking at it layer by layer.
He says in Traverse City is one of his favorite places to go for stirring up ideas.
So where do you start?
Shane says one that knowing your theme is crucial, and from there you can work on your design.
“For the table what is most important is your center piece. That is always what is most important, when you are looking for something attractive,” He says.
From there you have to layer.
It is important to know exactly what you need on the table and not to overdo it. That is how Shane does designs every table.
“I always go on the principle of two things, one, less is always more and two you are not going to achieve everything you want the first time,” he says. “You have to get through a couple dinner parties to build your inventory if you will.”
