Man Pleaded Guilty to Stealing, Obstructing Justice in 24-Hour Manhunt

A judge sentenced a man who led police on a 24-hour manhunt in Oceana County.

Shayne Smith was sentenced to six months in jail with credit for nearly five months.

He pleaded guilty to stealing and obstructing police.

In August, police arrested Smith for outstanding warrants.

Smith said he was in pain and was taken to the hospital.

That’s when he took off in handcuffs and without shoes.

He was later found hiding in a crawlspace in home in Hesperia.
