Hundreds Participate in Traverse City Chili Cook-Off
Hundreds of people left their homes Saturday to warm their bellies with chili.
It was all part of the Downtown Chili Cook-Off in Traverse City.
For just $10, people could sink their taste buds into lots of different options.
The taste testers could then vote for their favorite kinds of chili.
Local businesses provided the various types of chili.
For the last 28 years, the proceeds from this cook-off help support other free downtown events.
Those events include Friday Night Live, Santa’s Arrival and many others.
“We served about 1,400-1,600 people today. You see your neighbors. You see your friends. It’s a good time and a great way to get out of the house,” says Colleen Paveglio, the DDA Marketing and Communications Director.
The chili cook-off is also a green event.
The event only generated one bag of trash all day.
