Snow days are inevitable, but the accompanying boredom for kids doesn’t have to be.

Registered Dietician Grace Derocha, with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, can help your crabby kids settle into some great snow day activities.

“One of the best things we can do with kids is get creative with them,” she says. “It is good for their self-love and it actually makes them happier adults too.”

Roll the dice

You can let the di decide what kind of physical fun your kids get up to.

“My kids love doing this, they will be like ‘come on mom, let’s go,” she says.

And if you dice aren’t your thing, put activity ideas in a hat.

Beat boredom with board games

Board games don’t have to be same-old, same-old. Encourage your kids to make up their own my mixing and matching.

Dance party time

And if you’re looking for a way to kill time, be silly and crank up the tunes, try out the good old-fashioned dance party.

Movie makers gone wild

And instead of vegging out on the couch watching movies you’ve already seen, Challenge your kids to make their own.

“Let them become the creative actor or actress,” Derocha says.

Get creative

And if you’re looking for a way to get your kids some exercise, and own something like Amazon’s Alexa, have it call out activities or exercises with “The MIBlue Skill.”

Or put a list of chores on Popsicle sticks in a jar. They have to do what they draw.
