Traverse City Teaching Assistant Accused of Assaulting, Neglecting Student

A Traverse City school teaching assistant is accused of assaulting and neglecting a student.

Darci Henderson faces a misdemeanor assault and battery charge for an incident that happened back in November. 

Details are still limited right now but we do know the assault allegedly happened at New Campus School back in Nov. and it involved a 7-year-old boy.

The Traverse City Police Department tells us they investigated a child protective services referral filed against a teaching assistant.

The referral said Darci Henderson acted aggressive and neglectful toward the boy, but he was not injured.

Police tell us she turned herself into the jail Wednesday.

Henderson was arraigned on an assault and battery misdemeanor charge and released her on bond.

New Campus School is a K-12 program for students with emotional or behavioral needs, providing a more structured environment.
