Rep. Bergman Calls for Congress Members to Donate Salary to Local Charities

Michigan U.S. Representative Jack Bergman is calling for members of Congress to donate their salary to local charities in the wake of the government shutdown.

Representative Bergman says he supports President Donald Trump’s call for border security and that national security should be a priority.

But he also says he co-sponsored legislation to prevent members of Congress from getting paid during the shutdown.

He says, “Americans sent us to Washington to solve problems – and if we can’t do that, we don’t deserve to get paid.”
