Michigan Norovirus in Full Effect

Wintertime is here, and so is the season for the stomach flu, norovirus.

Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services is warning residents to take precautionary measures this season. The virus is spread easily through touching food, other people, and even contaminated surfaces.

Most symptoms last one to three days, and can be seen within 12 to 72 hours after being exposed to the virus.

The state recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds and disinfecting surfaces more frequently. Those sick with vomiting or diarrhea should avoid preparing or serving food for three days after their symptoms are gone.
