At Least One Dead In Beaver Island Plane Crash

At least one is confirmed dead in a plane crash in Beaver Island.

The Charlevoix County Sheriff’s Office says a loud explosion was heard near the area of Peaine Township Airport around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday.

The US Coast Guard helped in an extensive search to find the plane in a heavily wooded area off Buff Kett Road in Beaver Island.

That is where they found the person dead in a small airplane.

It is unclear it was the pilot and how many passengers were on board but we are working to get more details.

The investigation is ongoing and we will be sure to update you with the latest both on air and online.
