Gov. Snyder Signs Cyberbullying Law, Vetoes Newborn Drop Off Device

In continuing lame-duck session coverage, the governor signed several bills Thursday.

One makes it illegal to bully someone over the internet.

It will make it a misdemeanor to post a message or statement on the internet with the intent of threatening and committing violence against another person.

Governor Snyder says quote “cyberbullying can cause just as much trauma as traditional bullying.”

The governor vetoed a bill that would let parents give up newborns inside a special “safety device.”

Snyder says the newborn law is important, but argues it would be inappropriate to let parents drop off a baby into a device instead of handing it over to a police, fire or a hospital employee.
