White House Shares Christmas Message Amid Shutdown, Continued Investor Fears
While he wasn’t dreaming of a White House Christmas, President Trump is nonetheless spending the holiday at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue after cancelling plans to Mar-a-Lago on account of the ongoing shutdown of the federal government.
In addition to an address to US troops, the president and First Lady Melania Trump shared a Christmas greeting, followed by a message to the president from reporters:
“I can’t tell you when the government is going to be open. I can tell you it’s not going to be open until we have a wall.”
President Trump remains adamant; he will not cave on demands to fund his promised border wall.
The government shut down Friday after negotiations stalled, leaving thousands of federal employees without a pay check this holiday season.
