Last Minute Shoppers Fill Meijer Aisles

Many shoppers are cutting it close, getting some last-minute things at the Cadillac Meijer today.

“I bought the Santa Claus hat. I bought some stuff for my parents so some clothing. some electronics,” said Ian Oliver, a last-minute shopper.

Everyone made their lists and after checking them twice, realized they needed to head out to the store one last time before ahead of old St. Nick’s arrival.

“I’m going to head over to the clothing section just to get the essentials,” said Amy Eastway who is grabbing some last-minute things.

“Last-minute doesn’t give you a whole lot of time to just look around, you pretty much got to decide on something,” said Elmo Hoaglund, another shopper.

Meijer will close Monday night at 7 p.m. and re-open Wednesday at 6 a.m.

“We’ll actually do the same amount of business as we would normally do just with five less hours since we close at seven tonight so our team members can go home and have time with their family,” said Brandon Sutton, Cadillac Meijer store director.

He says everyone’s not just looking to buy presents.

“These people are grabbing those last minute items for the family and friend get together, but also after Christmas, they don’t want to shop for food, they want to grab those you know special deal for clearance and the Christmas items that were left over,” said Sutton.

Although the store may be busy, customers were in good spirits.

“I just love this time of season. Everybody seems for the most part super up beat and happy and just the joy that comes with Christmas,” said Eastway.
