Hosts often open up their homes and certainly their schedules to make the holidays special for family and friends.

in Traverse City has a few tips to help both the host and the guest.

Tips for the Host:

Robert Young, with Lucky’s Market, says the first key is to relax and take care of yourself, sleep well.

“If you worry too much, it’s probably not going to go well, so take care of yourself first and remember you can do this,” he says.

Pre-made charcuterie boards, like the ones at Lucky’s Market, are a great finger-food way to provide appetizers without the hassle.

Robert also suggests picking up “dinner for two,” or for however many people are in your home, so that the night or lunch before the big party is easy on the host.

“We make a lot of homemade food right in our kitchen,” he says. “We are here to help. If you need any advice on what to pair with cheese or what wine you should have with anything, you can always call and ask that too.”

A Tip for Guests: Bring Something

“A lot of people are going to bring booze, so think about going outside the box,” Robert says.
