Father Fred Foundation Asks Businesses to Help Food Drive

Ultimately neighbors will be helping neighbors for this Frostbite Food Drive—but who says it can’t also become a fun, friendly rivalry?

The Father Fred Foundation of Traverse City is calling for 30 area businesses to volunteer as collection sites for food donations from Jan. 26 to Feb. 3.

It’s asking for at least 30 businesses because the foundation is 30 years old this year.

Father Fred’s Elaine Keaton says they hope a few businesses might try to compete and see who can collect the most. It’s all in the name of solidarity for the 11,000 visits people made to the food pantry in 2017 alone.

Best items to donate:

  • 5 oz. canned chicken
  • 5 oz. canned tuna
  • Oatmeal
  • Peanut butter
  • Dried beans
  • 1lb rice bag
  • Spaghetti or pasta
  • Pasta sauce
  • Soups
  • Canned fruits
  • Cash donations are always welcome for purchasing perishable items like milk, eggs, meats and produce

To donate, stop by business drop spots during the Frostbite Food Drive from Jan. 26 to Feb. 3, or bring donations to one of Father Fred’s two main donation sites in Traverse City: Team Bob’s and Fox Motors.

For a business to become a donation collection site, sign up by Jan. 19.
