Democratic Governors Consider Putting Halt on New Charter Schools

With Governor-elect Whitmer set to take office at the start of the year, the future of charter schools could be in jeopardy.

Michigan is one of several states that may be taking a look at stopping new charter schools from happening.

Whitmer and Democrat governor-elects from other states are replacing outgoing leaders who have openly supported the schools.

Charter schools enroll about 3 million students across the country.

They are publicly funded, but run privately.
