Midland Co. Sheriff Arrested for Drunk Driving; Issues Apology
The Midland County sheriff says he got arrested for drunk driving.
Sheriff Scott Stephenson says he was drinking at a deer camp in Kalkaska County about two weeks ago.
He left the camp in his car to get cell reception, but says he pulled over as he felt the alcohol take effect.
Stephenson says a passerby called police.
A Kalkaska County deputy came and arrested him for drunk driving.
Stephenson says he plans to plead guilty in court.
He added, “I am embarrassed, ashamed and deeply regret the decision to consume alcohol and drive. My poor decision affects not only myself, but my family, the Midland County Sheriff’s Office and my constituents. I will accept full responsibility for my decision that day.”
