Friday is the last day of this firearm deer season in Michigan.
It’s the end of just one of the deer hunting seasons offered to hunters.
The number of deer harvested in the state will not be available until all deer seasons are over.
So far this season, the DNR says license sales are down, but that hasn’t impacted the number of deer being brought to deer check stations across the state.
“License sales were down a little bit, about 1 percent this year. Which last year we were down but more deer were harvested. We’re kinda looking to see what this season will bring, but we just know we are definitely seeing more deer coming into deer check stations this season,” Katie Keen, wildlife communications coordinator for the DNR said.
There is still more than a month of deer season left.
Late archery starts this Saturday and muzzleloading starts December 7.
