Man Identified in Deadly ATV, Deer Crash in Mason County
A Northern Michigan man is dead Monday morning after hitting a deer with his ATV.
Mason County deputies were called to Stephens Road, just south of US10 around 7:30 a.m. Monday morning for reports of an unresponsive man lying in the road.
The sheriff says 43-year-old Nolan Crawford of Custer was driving an ATV when he hit a deer.
He lost control, rolled and was thrown off the vehicle.
He was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff says speed was not a factor.
His father and brother work for the Custer Township Fire Dept. and were one of the first to arrive on the scene.
