The fridge is your friend, and no friend wants to be covered in dried on spills with expired food inside.

Grace Derocha, with , has some tips and tricks for cleaning out and storing food in your refrigerator.

When you clean out your fridge, take out all the food completely so you can scrub at whatever is dried or spilled in odd places.

And as a preventative tick, Derocha recommends lining your shelves and drawers with cling wrap as an easy way to clear up messes.

“With thanksgiving and the holidays coming, it’s a good time to do it (clean your fridge) since there’s going to be leftovers and a lot of food,” Derocha says.

No fridge needed items:

There are a few items you don’t even have to put in your fridge, Derocha says, including bananas, avocados, squashes, potatoes, onions and garlic.

But don’t put bananas on the same counter space, in the same bowl or cupboard. They help food to ripen.
