Northwestern Michigan College Awarded $10,000 from Veterans in Crisis

Northwestern Michigan College took time on Monday to commemorate Veterans Day and honor our nation’s heroes.

NMC continued the annual tradition of the Walk of Honor.

They had breakfast, a walk led by the Traverse City marching band and a ceremony with Congressman Jack Bergman.

The NMC Foundation was also presented a $10,000 check from Veterans in Crisis.

That money will be used to help the nearly 400 student veterans on campus.

“Veterans in Crisis was formed a year ago to try to help those who are in crisis that have served our country honorably and the opportunity was to give to Northwestern Michigan College students who are veterans that might be struggling and need a helping hand,” said chair Dave Mikowski.

The money will be used to help veterans overcome obstacles they might encounter as they work towards a degree.
