Rotary Club of Cadillac Raises 11 American Flags, Unveils Veterans Memorial Walkway Project in Cadillac

It’s a powerful sight, Old Glory flying high over Lake Cadillac, 11 times over.

In time for Veterans Day, the Rotary Club of Cadillac put the finishing touches on the Veterans Memorial Walkway Project

It’s a project months in the works.

On Saturday the group raised the 11 American flags for the first time.

High above Lake Cadillac, the flags will be enjoyed by the community, visitors and travelers on M-115.

At night they will be lit up by solar powered-lights and they will be flown year-round.

The theme of the project was to honor all who served.

“I think veterans are very important to our community. I come from a veteran family, I have three brothers in the service so it’s very important to me. I thought it was very good for the city to recognize our veterans and the work they do for us,” Rotarian Doreen Lanc, said.

The Rotary Club of Cadillac says this project demonstrates their commitment to “Service above Self.”

At a later date, supporter plaques will be added to the memorial.
