Saturday Marks 43 Years Since Sinking of SS Edmund Fitzgerald

Saturday will mark 43 years since the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald sank into Lake Superior.

For many, the tragedy and the legend live on.

The freighter sank in Lake Superior during a snow storm on Nov. 10, 1975.

It was just 15 miles from Whitefish Point.

All 29 men onboard went down with the ship.

At the time, the Fitzgerald was the largest ship on the Great Lakes, and is the largest ship to have sunk there.

Saturday, the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum will hold its annual memorial ceremony.
