Unofficial Results: Mesick Consolidated Schools Bonding Proposal Predicted to fail

The Mesick Consolidated Schools bonding proposal is predicted to have failed.

Two precincts in Manistee and 10 in Wexford report an unofficial count of 1,000 yes and 1,232 no.

This proposal would be 4.8 mills for 30 years, or $4.80 on each $1,000 of taxable value, and would move the elementary school students into the middle and high school building.

They’d be adding on 40,000 square feet to make this possible, as well as remodeling, refurnishing, equipping and re-equipping the middle and high school building. And the playgrounds and athletic fields would also be improved or developed.

The schools are asking for $4.8 million, which would generate $13.7 million.
