Man Accused of Aiming Crossbow at Oceana Co. Deputies Turns Himself In Following Standoff

The Oceana County sheriff says a man who aimed a loaded crossbow at deputies after flipping his ex-wife’s car turned himself in after a standoff that lasted several hours.

The sheriff says it all started Saturday before noon when the man went to his ex-wife’s home and started to argue with her.

The sheriff says the man threatened her with a large knife, but dropped it to use a farm tractor to flip her car.

The man then took off from the scene with his tractor.

Deputies eventually caught up with him on West Tyler Road in Hart Township.

There, they found the tractor.

Deputies say they tried to talk to him but that’s when he aimed the crossbow at them and made several threats toward them.

The man then barricaded himself in a house until giving himself up around 4:30.

He has yet to be charged.
