Northwestern Michigan College President Retiring After 18 Years

A big announcement at Northwestern Michigan College.

The current president of 18 years just announced his retirement.

Timothy Nelson is the longest-serving president of the college, leading the college to earn many recognitions over the years.

He has led the development of multiple programs like freshwater studies and maritime technology.

As well as being committed to helping veterans, where they are now ranked 2nd in the nation for their veteran services.

“This is a great community, they value education, they value people who volunteer and I’ve been able to volunteer for lots of boards and organizations,” said Nelson.

“I was brought up to make a difference and that’s what I hope I’ve done.”

Nelson will continue in his position until December of 2019.

He says he has a lot more than he still wants to accomplish before he retires.
