Man Arrested for Driving Drunk, Having Gun Following Grand Traverse Co. Crash

The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man over the weekend after he crashed his hummer and police found him holding a hand gun.

Deputies responded to East Long Lake Road and Huellmantel Road in Long Lake Township on Sunday around 2 a.m. where witnesses saw the car in a ditch.

When they got on scene, the man in the car appeared unresponsive but deputies then saw him shuffling around, dropping a gun in the passenger seat.

Police took the man to Munson hospital, where they say he didn’t cooperate.

Police arrested him on multiple charges including resisting and obstructing, driving while intoxicated, and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.

Investigators also found a second gun in the car.

The report now goes on to the county prosecutor.
