TCAPS Holding Board Meeting for Counting Issue That Could Cost District $700K
In Grand Traverse County $700,000 is on the line for Traverse City Area Public Schools.
Last week we told you the state had warned TCAPS its needed to deduct funding for 102 students.
It stemmed from a problem with how some students were counted.
The district held a board meeting to address the issue Monday night.
It could mean a loss of $700,000 in state aid.
Superintendent Paul Soma says it all started with an anonymous letter sent to the state.
He says it contained malicious and incorrect information.
Soma says the counts were audited and approved three times.
We’ll have an update on tonight’s meeting for you on 9&10 News at 11.
