Woman Convicted in ‘Operation Sweety’ to be Resentenced in Grand Traverse Co.

A Detroit woman is heading back to a Grand Traverse County courtroom.

It comes after she was sentenced for leading a major drug trafficking operation from downstate to Northern Michigan.

Charese Arnold was one of nine people arrested in Grand Traverse County and Detroit as part of “Operation Sweety” back in March of 2016.

An appeals court judges overturned her prison sentence last week saying it was improperly scored based on what prosecutors and Arnold’s attorney agreed on.

The sting in 2016 uncovered millions of dollars in heroin and cocaine being brought into Northern Michigan.

A judge then sentenced Arnold to at least 20 years in prison.
