Missaukee County Veterans Gifted Outdoor Activity Friendly Wheelchairs
Two companies teamed up to present veterans at a Missaukee County senior living center with wheelchairs that lets them go pretty much anywhere.
Defender Mobility and Bad River Outdoors gave two “track chairs” to vets at Whispering Pines Senior Living.
The all-terrain chairs let them go outdoors, and come with attachments to hold fishing poles and rifles.
One will go to the facility to share.
The other goes to veteran Daniel Higgins.
Higgins had a stroke four years ago that left him wheel chair-bound.
“This opens up hunting and fishing, a lot of activities I personally enjoyed that I haven’t been able to do for years, ya know four years so,” Higgins said.
Higgins joined the Airforce in the 70s and served in the first Gulf War, Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
And helped set up the Homeland Security Program.
