New Music Copyright Laws Put Into Effect

There are new copyright laws that are updated for the streaming music age.

On Thursday, President Trump, lawmakers and musicians met for the signing of the Music Modernization Act.

The law streamlines the process for royalty payments when songs are played online.

It also improves the payouts for engineers and producers.

“This is a great start to protect songwriters, producers, engineers, the unsung heroes behind many of these songs,” said musician Kid Rock.

The law had the support of both Republicans and Democrats in sharp contrast to the recent fighting of the U.S. Senate.

Following the event, the president met with rapper Kanye West and football legend Jim Brown.

They discussed issues affecting the African American community.
