Help Kids Sleep Better With Community Build Day and Bedding Drive

A good bed is key for getting a good night’s sleep, yet many children in Northern Michigan don’t have one.

A local non-profit is looking to change that by hosting a Community Build Day and Bedding Drive.

Chapter Co-President Mekoe Peterson, of the Wexford-Missaukee chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, says their goal is to build 30 sets of bunk beds to give to the community.

“We have two different shifts…we’re hoping to have at least 30 volunteers for each shift,” Peterson says. “No experience necessary, we’ll be there with all the tools, all the lumbar and instructions.”

The Community Build Day is this Saturday at Culvers in Cadillac. The morning build is from 9 a.m. to noon and the afternoon build is from 2 to 5 p.m.

If you want to join the building crew, register online here or contact 844-432-BEDS(2337).

The non-profit is also doing a bedding drive that day, and will be accepting donations of brand-new twin-sized sheets, quilts and comforters, or monetary donations.
