FEMA to Test New Presidential Alert System Wednesday

Almost every cell phone in America will be getting a test from a new alert system Wednesday.

There is no emergency, but the new alert system is ready to go.

It’s called the “Presidential Alert.”

This will be the first nationwide test of a new system to warn Americans of an emergency.

The text message will read: “This is a test of the national wireless emergency alert system. No action is needed.”

The system is run by FEMA.

All major cell phone companies will participate.

It works similar to an AMBER Alert, but it can’t be turned off.

The alert also may come through radio, television, and smart watches.

The test is scheduled for 2:18 p.m.
