BATA Offers App to Electronically Pay for Bus Fare
There’s a new option available for people who use the public transit system in the Grand Traverse Area.
You can now purchase a bus pass from the Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) through an app.
The HopThru app gives users a new way to pay their bus fare electronically instead of going to one of the BATA bus stations.
“It’s fairly easy to use. It’s very user-friendly. It’s visual validation, so all you do is show the pass to the driver when you board the bus and its active and it will validate for the driver. Then you just hop on and continue with your ride,” says Eric Linguar the communications and development director for BATA.
He says there are a variety of fares for regular rider and also for those who qualify for reduced fares.
