Emmet County Jail Receives Perfect Rating for 16th Year

The state gave the Emmet County jail a perfect inspection rating this year, making this the 16th year they’ve received the accolade.

On Wednesday the jail got a 100 percent compliance rating from the Michigan Department of Corrections.

The annual inspection rates them on things like medical services, fire safety, staff training and equipment.

The sheriff says he owes it all to his jail administrator, Brenda Ford, and her staff.

“This is proof again that Emmet County is providing a safe and secure facility for the public, the inmates and their families. It’s the result of the hard work of my jail administrator and her staff. I worry more about what happens in the jail more than I do with my law enforcement division, so good work on my staff on their part,” says Emmet County Sheriff Peter Wallin.

MDOC says the jail is an excellent example of a well-managed correctional facility.
