A husband and wife from the Frankfort area were windsurfing on Bear Lake in Manistee County.

The Manistee County Sheriff says the 66-year-old woman was about a quarter a mile ahead of her husband when she fell off.

Because of the distance he wasn’t able to tell police an exact location of where she went under.

Police tell us her husband says she’s an excellent swimmer and experienced wind surfer.

The Coast Guard searched by helicopter and the DNR, sheriff’s office, firefighters and EMS were out looking for her Friday night.

The windsurfing board was found on shore.

The search was called off, but the sheriff says they will use sonar and dive teams to continue looking in the morning.
