Yoga has many physical and mental benefits that attract people to it.
But some get scared off by how complicated it looks.
Nicole Rogers with the Evolve Yoga & Fitness Studio in Cadillac has been demonstrating some beginner poses you can try at home, including the chair and crescent pose.
Chair
- Feet width apart, put hands together in the praying motion.
- Take a big inhale and lengthen the spine, lifting through the ribs.
- Exhale down, sitting against the wall and engaging the core.
Crescent Lunge
- Swan dive into a forward fold, stepping the left foot back into a bit of a runner’s lunge.
- Reach up, extending the spine.
- You can modify this pose by dropping the lunge and taking a knee.
