Discovery Museum in Mount Pleasant Receives More Than $25K in Grants

Mount Pleasant’s Discovery Museum is getting some help to continue their educational mission, thanks to grants from the state.

The money comes from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs.

Last week it announced the funds for the 2018-19 fiscal year.

Mount Pleasant Discovery Museum received two grants totaling more than $25,000.

It goes toward things like operations, projects and improvements.

The Discovery Museum says many programs and exhibits would not exist without grants like these.

“The Mount Pleasant Discovery Museum is a nonprofit and that money will help us to continue to promote playful learning. Play helps a child develop critical foundational skills such as gross motor, fine motor, relationship-building,” executive director Liz Conway said.

Art Reach of Mid-Michigan in Mt. Pleasant also received two grants, totaling more than $21,000.
