Hook & Hunting: Meijer Giving Free Junior Deer Hunting Licenses

Fall is just around the corner, and once again, Meijer is making sure junior hunters are covered.

This Friday and Saturday Meijer is footing the bill for junior deer hunting licenses.

Kids 10 to 16-years-old have to be with an adult and must have a base license.

Those under 10 can get a free mentored youth hunting license.

In 2017, Meijer paid more than $1 million for youngsters to enjoy the sport.

The DNR says that’s a big deal.

“If you have multiple kids that $20 could add up so being able to get the free deer license for youth is a bonus for families,” Katie Keen, wildlife communications coordinator for the DNR said.

Again it’s tomorrow and Saturday at any Michigan Meijer location.
