A few things could save your life when it comes to ovarian cancer.

In honor of national ovarian cancer awareness month, here are a few things you need to know.

There is no screening test

For this type of cancer, there is no screening test, so symptom awareness is key.

If you are experiencing bloating, pelvic and abdominal pain, have a hard time eating or feel full quickly, or are experiencing urinary issues, including frequency or urgency, you may want to call your gynecologist.

The Stats

In Michigan it’s estimated that there will be 750 cases of the disease this year alone, and around 500 women will die from it.

According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, ovarian cancer symptoms are subtle and often missed or mistaken for other issues.

It’s not going to hurt you to get checked. If you’d like to learn more, head to here.
