Hurricane Florence Prompts Hospital, Animal Shelter Evacuations

Hurricane Florence evacuees are making their way inland to a number of shelters already set up for those leaving home for safety.

With an expected landfall for Friday morning, people along the coast will start seeing the effects Thursday night and are using this warning to take shelter.

But it’s not just home and business owners who need to be worried about this category 4 storm.

Tuesday, volunteers took nearly 40 shelter animals from Beaufort, South Carolina to the humane society in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to get them out of harm’s way.

Hospitals along the coast are also working to evacuate patients.

South Carolina’s governor has ordered hospitals to evacuate their patients, but for patients who are too sick to leave, hospital staff will stay to care for them through the storm.
