Man Accused In Hunting Accident That Killed 13-Year-Old Expected in Court

Roger Hoeker is expected to be sentenced in an Oceana County courtroom Monday.

He’s accused of involuntary manslaughter involving a deadly hunting case.

We’re told Hoeker and 13-year old William Gort Jr. were hunting in February of 2017 as part of a youth outreach program.

Deputies say Hoeker accidentally shot and kill Gort during that hunting trip.

Hoeker pleaded no contest to reckless discharge of firearms, which means he’s not admitting guilt, but accepts the punishment.

We’ll be following the case, and will keep you updated on his sentencing.
