What’s Growing With Tom: Week 19

Welcome back, Northern Michigan!

The garden is looking great – peppers, zucchinis, the carrots may be a bit stubby, but that’s not a big issue! That’s my fault for not thinning them enough earlier in the spring.

Everything is very nice and the tomatoes have really peaked since trimming them a few weeks ago.

That’s one thing you can’t forget, a little trimming will make a big difference.

You can’t just plant and forget, one has to go out and do a little work and you get great rewards! If you don’t trim, you get tomatoes but many don’t mature, so it doesn’t feel like the time was worth it.

We know the zucchini was hurt by some mildew, but they did come back with a little help from Veggie Blaster from We know they won’t last much longer, but a few come off every couple days so I’m not complaining.

Now is the time to take advantage of the garden and eat the rewards. The good thing is we have more rain coming and several more weeks of a growing!

Remember, take care of your garden and it will take care of you.

Tune in next week when we get back to our fruit tree and food plot!
