Shelby Village police say 30-year-old Shayne Smith from Hesperia escaped police custody at the Shelby Lakeshore Hospital E.R. around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

He was taken there for a medical clearance and is wanted on outstanding warrants and ordinance violations.

He’s about 5 foot 6, 170 pounds, with long hair and facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and gray jogging shorts.

He was not wearing shoes or socks and is handcuffed in the front.

Current weather conditions are hindering the search efforts.

If you live in the area they’re asking that you keep your doors locked.

If you have any information on him contact Shelby Police Department, Hesperia Police Department or call 911.

If you see the man do not approach him, call 911 immediately.

Police say the weather has hindered officer and K9 efforts but the search is still fully underway for the subject.
