What’s Happening in Northern Michigan: Corvette Show, Craft Beer Week, Fishing Frenzy

Just because the summer is beginning to wind down doesn’t mean the fun around Northern Michigan is.

Auto shows, craft beer festivals and fishing tournaments, those are just a few of the exciting activities you won’t want to miss out on this month.

Courtney Scheffer with the West Michigan Tourist Association breaks down the details.

The is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Mackinaw Crossings Mall parking lot. 

This event is a must for Corvette owners and vacationers.

Saturday morning opens the show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with hundreds of beautiful Corvettes on display.

Saturday evening, the “Corvettes on Parade” will travel through downtown Mackinaw City and across the Mackinac Bridge at 7 p.m.

All Corvettes are welcome to join in.

If you’re looking for a fun weekend in the Straits area, there are beaches, parks, boat ferries to the island, tours of historic sites, live music, and an arts & craft show.

takes place Sept. 3-9 throughout Marquette.

Numerous local restaurants and bars will be celebrating the many craft breweries found throughout the great beer state of Michigan.

Throughout the week they’ll offer tastings, special tappings, and tap takeovers, culminating with the U.P. Fall Beer Fest, taking place on Sept. 9 in Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette.

Coming up next weekend, the is the second largest salmon fishing event on the Tournament Trail.

The tournament starts Aug. 26 with the Ladies Classic, then proceeds through the weekend with the pro and amateur divisions.

Over $25,000 in cash and prizes will be given away during this event.

The tournament takes place at Mineral Springs Park in downtown Frankfort.

This is one of the only places in Northern Michigan where you will see potentially over 1,200 salmon and trout being weighed as these competitors try to win the biggest and heaviest fish!
