This weekend is the annual Benzie Fishing Frenzy, stop number 13 on the Lake Michigan Tournament Trail, and it is one of the biggest events of the season.
The ladies kick off the tournament Friday and then on Saturday and Sunday starts the pro-am division.
The winner is determined by points and pounds.
Every fish caught is 10 points and anglers get a point per pound.
The tournament director says they are hoping to see some 20 plus pounders this weekend
“For a lot of teams this is the final event that they fish and it’s kind of like a season finale, two more events coming up, but a lot guys find their season ending here in Frankfort and you really couldn’t ask for a better tournament setting. So it’s just unique and it’s fun to be down here,” says director Scotty Mac, director of the Lake Michigan Tournament Trail.
